How well do you know your way across campus? Whether you are a freshman to a senior who really knows the free resources being offered here at Linfield? Financial aid, LSS, and the career and development center are all free resources that offer help for students year round. With finals creeping up around the corner, be sure to check these awesome resources out!
If you are needing a bit more help than usual for one class for your whole academic year try going to Learning Support Services located on the bottom floor of Melrose! LSS offers learning accommodations for any disability you may have to tutoring for one specific class to academic coaching for the semester. These are all resources that help many students across campus to improve your learning in the classroom.
Lex Adams, an academic coach stated, “ Most students aren't quite aware that we have great resources on campus, and I don't blame them. It's hard to be in the loop when you're so focused on your studies! I encourage all students to come on down and give academic coaching a try even if you are excelling. There's always room for improvement.”
Here's how to get started, go to LSS in Melrose and ask the work study student on how to get started on any accommodations you might have in mind, and they will direct you to a faculty member who specializes in your needs! In regards to any medical or personal accommodations, the specific faculty member will guide you step by step in the help you need and will contact your professors and let them know of the accommodations you have.
If interested in academic coaching, go to LSS in melrose and ask the work study student that you are interested in academic coaching. They will direct you with an academic coach that will support your needs if you are struggling in class, touch base with you weekly on how you are doing for the week, and they will help you with different study techniques and learning techniques as well!

LSS doesn't always specialize in helping students with learning in the classroom but if you need housing, dining, note taking, and emotional/ service animals accommodations. These are just a few listed but be sure to head down to LSS for more information!
Another great resource is peer advising located in the student career and development center also in Melrose. If you're not feeling too confident, meeting with faculty peer advising is a great way to talk to someone about your academic goals for the semester. They also have career specialists to help you get your ideas going for any resume and cover letter assistance. The career development center is also a great place to go if you're actively looking for any internships or job offers.
Neli Sandoval ‘26, is a student worker and peer advisor at the career development center and here's a few words on what she says when asked on what she wishes students knew about the career center. “ I wish students knew that the career development center wasn’t about peer advising and general advisors; it can be intimidating for students to hear that. We are super friendly and chill and we love helping students out who are excited to work on their resume or are looking for internships or jobs to start their career in.”
We also have the financial aid and registrar office. Financial aid is a great way to find all different kinds of scholarships and they can also help you navigate these different kinds of scholarships. As for the registrar office, they are a great place to see if you are all caught up with credits, help with transferring credits, and can help you with any self service courses being offered.

Financial Aid and Student accounts | Linfield University
Sam Moreno ‘25, a senior financial aid counselor says “ When students first come to college, financial aid is an area of uncertainty. Whether it be to get help with your financial aid or just inquiring about general information, I encourage students to come ask questions about Financial Aid so they gain more clarity and they go through school knowing about how they are being supported financially.”
Another great resource here on campus is the Student Health and Wellness center! They offer student physical health services and mental health services as well. They also do any mental health testing services on top of counseling that fits your schedule! If you need some privacy or a way to mediate there's a mediation room in Riley hall on the second floor by the new computer lounge. It is stated that 62% of college students report experiencing anxiety and 27% claim that it took a negative toll on their academics. You are not the only one experiencing this, so head on down to the student health and wellness center for tips and tricks to ease your anxiety.

You can find the Student Health and Wellness Center in the bottom floor of Walker Hall suite 103.
To switch things up, there is a new Student Commuter lounge ( room 209) and Student food pantry ( room 210) ! They are both located on the second floor of Riley Hall. The student commuter lounge has been placed for any students who are commuters who may need a space for themselves to hang out in between classes or just doing school work. There are lockers and even a kitchen. Right next to the lounge is the Student Food pantry which has been upgraded with new freezers and fridges this summer. The freezers and fridges have all kinds of meat and refrigerable food that may catch someone's eye. With of course non perishable foods being displayed across the room.
The food pantry is a 24hr service you can go to with just a scan of your student ID. But the fridges and freezers and most food items will be locked away after hours. Other than that, most student resources listed above are available with friendly faces Monday - Friday from 8am-5pm with an exception of holidays!
